My First Rant

I was browsing one of my friends profiles on Facebook and I noticed that there’s some proposition in California that bans divorce for already married couples. From what I gathered, this proposition stemmed from the hate generated towards the discrimination that many same sex couples felt from PROP 8.

Well, my friend and some others were discussing how stupid this proposition for divorce was and how idiotic it would be if this actually passed. I’m going to just say now that I think this proposition is a great idea. I have ALWAYS thought that divorce was stupid, and I definitely think that outlawing divorce would help EVERYONE value the sanctity of marriage and understand what it REALLY means to give someone your whole life and your everything. I’m honestly pissed off with the way our culture views marriage as something with a ‘trial period’ because I don’t know if most of them notice that their wedding vows say something along the lines of: for better, for worse, in sickness, in health, in rich, in poor…UNTIL DEATH DO US PART. Unless your dying, I don’t want to hear any shit about you wanting to break up with your current husband or wife.

And for those that have abusive husbands and wives, you’re just an idiot, honestly. The reason why you date someone is so you can get to KNOW THEM, meaning you should have realized from their habits and quirks from when you are dating them that they would have been abusive. That’s also the reason why you should wait until you get married, because if you get married too soon, you don’t actually know them; which is pretty much the equivalent of running in front of a bus.

*sigh* Anyways, that’s really all I can say about this topic. I strongly oppose divorce. ):
